The "Original"

...that was how it began. Sitting in a dorm room with walls constructed of painted cinder block (looking more like a "cell" than a dorm room) I needed something to change the feel of where I was

As it turned out, I would already have everything I needed right there: Standard # 2 pencil and some paper...that's it. Throw in a passion for sports (in particular basketball) as inspiration and I was off. The end result felt good enough to hang on the wall...and good enough to convince me to do another. The next one led to another, which led to another, and so on. While it would be many years before I would actually sell or even share my work, you could say that once I hung that drawing, I became an "Artist"

Each new drawing is unique in appearance and subject, but each also remains true to its origins, being brought to life by simplest of medium. I believe art lives not just in what we "see" when we look at it, but also in where it comes from and what it took to create it. While there is nothing flashy about a wooden #2 pencil, it is that simplicity that makes what is produced from it all the more interesting, unique and valuable​​​​
